Oceana Group Chief Executive Officer Neville Brink and his executive team were honoured at a ceremony held at Station 3 in the Table Bay Sea Rescue base on Tuesday, 28 May. NSRI CEO Dr. Cleeve Robertson presented them with a certificate symbolising the renewal of their Platinum Partnership with the NSRI.

“One of Sea Rescue's mandates is looking after the fishing and maritime industries, and it’s a logical fit that Oceana and the NSRI support each other. Our partnership is over two decades-long and growing,” said NSRI CEO Dr. Cleeve Robertson.

“Our ability to carry out life-saving rescue operations and water-safety education initiatives is directly linked to the support we receive from our partners. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Oceana Group for their unwavering support over the past two decades, including supporting water safety education in the fishing sector,” he said.

“The Oceana Group has supported NSRI since 2002 and has been a Platinum Partner since 2013. The Oceana-NSRI relationship is enduring and assists the NSRI in saving lives,” said Dr. Robertson.

“The Oceana Group is an international fishing company that runs over 60 vessels worldwide, 40 in South Africa. NSRI and ourselves have had a long standing partnership. We have been a Platinum Partner for eleven years, and we will be partners for as long as I am around, and I am sure long after that. It is a privilege for us to be partners with you,” said Oceana CEO Mr. Neville Brink.

After a tour of the rescue base, the Oceana Group executive team went to sea on DHL Deliverer, Table Bay’s 14-meter Off-shore Rescue Craft

The certificate reads:

To the Oceana Group Limited for your generous sponsorship of the National Sea Rescue Institute of South Africa.

Sea Rescue's unpaid volunteers respond 24 / 7 / 365 to emergencies on South African waters, rescuing people and animals from life-threatening situations. Sea Rescue's Drowning Prevention programme has reached over 2 million disadvantaged children throughout the country, teaching water safety and CPR. Our efforts would not be possible without our loyal partners who fund our efforts to save lives on South African waters.
