NSRI volunteers from Jeffreys Bay Station 37 assisted in a search for missing man on Saturday, while volunteers from Witsand Station 33 assisted a boat in difficulty and in need of a tow.The incidents occurred as follows:JEFFREYS BAY:Michael van den Bergh, NSRI Jeffreys Bay station commander, said:At 10h07, Saturday, 27 June, NSRI Jeffreys Bay duty crew were activated to assist the JBay Trauma Center in a shoreline search between Main beach and Kabeljous for a local 61 year old man who had failed to return home from a walk the night before.Our NSRI Quad bike, sea rescue vehicle and crew members searched along the beach assisting local community services and family members in an extensive search.While searching The Jbay Trauma center confirmed that the man was located near to his home and he was reunited with his family.The man was safe, he was not injured and no further assistance was required.WITSAND:Hennie Kok, NSRI Witsand deputy station commander, said:At 12h42, Saturday, 27 June, NSRI Witsand duty crew were activated following reports of a boat that broke its mooring and at low tide drifted onto a sandbank.Although no one was onboard and there were no lives in any danger the casualty boat was at risk of being swept away by the rising tide in storm weather conditions.NSRI Witsand duty crew responded aboard the sea rescue craft Breede Rescuer and took the casualty boat under tow and the boat was towed and secured to her mooring without incident and no further assistance was required. -ENDS-
