In a partnership with fast food brand King Pie, the National Sea Rescue Institute’s WaterWise, presented the “Be A Hero” campaign from February to the end of April 2011. The campaign targeted 30 schools across Gauteng, KZN and the Western Cape.The King Pie ‘Be a Hero’ campaign made workshops accessible to these targeted schools, and taught core water safety skills, to try and develop a generation of sensible and capable water users.Lwazi Fihlela, our KZN based educator, kept a camera with him, and documented some of the schools and surrounds that he found himself in. Often he was in extremely remote areas, teaching the children how to avoid an emergency, but also what to do and who to call if an emergency developed.These are some of his pictures:
