Whale festival

Spring has sprung, and as we start to think about packing away our winter clothes, the whales are arriving in large numbers. For weeks now locals have been entertained by breaching in False Bay and further up the east coast. A number of calls have come through for “whales in distress” … most of them, thankfully, are simply from people who are worried about the huge mammals being so close to the shore.One of Hermanus’s annual highlights is the whale festival – this years is the 19^th one and kicks off on Friday 24 September. So if you are into watching the Southern Right whales that move into the bay to mate and calve, or a good party, or the enviro-arts festival, there is something for everyone.Visit the NSRI kiosk when you are in the area.
