WaterWise Instructor in Port St Johns Debbie Smith reports:When the phone rings at 07h30 and it’s the Headmaster from the school of 700+ children that you taught the day before. He’s laughing, telling you that the children arrived at school this morning, all singing the 10177 ambulance number. They are all chanting “P = PACK. L = LOOK. A = ASK & N = NEVER ... PLAN”. Then you know you have made an impact so huge on these children that it brings the broadest smile to your face to start your own day off.Thank you Mr. Marwarwa from Mtambalala J.S.S. school – Ntafufu – Port St John’s for accompanying me to every class on this day, for personally carrying my bags and paperwork to each area within the school that I taught at and for happily standing each time I repeated the 10177 number, doing your own jive to encourage learners. Thank you for your Grade 9 learners that all stayed an extra half an hour at the end of their day, not moving nor fidgeting, to learn CPR and the value of it.To have a headmaster phone you early the next morning to thank you for the work being done with these children and to urge us to continue with such vital work is how this day started. This was the impact that it had at his school. There are just no further words to describe this.Mr. Marwarwa you stand out Sir………. It was a privilege to be at your school.NSRI WaterWiseimage003image004NSRI WaterWise
