Melodie Herrmann, NSRI Shelly Beach duty controller, said:At 08h16, Friday, 11 June, NSRI Shelly Beach duty crew were activated following reports from Shelly Beach Ski-boat Club and Shelly Beach Control of a RHIB (Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat) capsized in the shore break with 3 men onboard at Shelly Beach launching site on the KZN South Coast.Our NSRI Shelly Beach duty crew, Med-Evac Emergency Rescue Service and the SA Police Services responded. Police Search and Rescue were alerted.On arrival on the scene the crew of the casualty boat were found safe ashore and they were not injured.The casualty boat was washing ashore in shallow surf.A rope was attached to the casualty boat and assisted by members of the Shelly Beach Ski-boat Club and Shelly Beach Control the casualty boat was recovered.No further assistance was required.NSRI commend members of the Shelly Beach Ski-Boat Club, Shelly Beach Control and local boaters and public members who assisted on the scene.
