Sea Rescue – Noordhoek – 04 January, 2011: 4 men safe after boat capsizes:At 12h02 NSRI Kommetjie, the Discovery Surf Rescue helicopter and Metro EMS (Emergency Medical and Rescue Service) were activated by the Transnet National Ports Authority following reports of the local 7 metre fishing ski-boat, Samurai, with 4 local fishermen onboard, capsized 400 metres off Noordhoek Beach.On arrival on-scene the Discovery Surf Rescue helicopter found all 4 men hanging onto the upturned hull of their boat.The rescue helicopter stood-by on-scene, hovering above the 4 men, until all 4 men were safely rescued by NSRI Kommetjie sea rescue craft and brought safely ashore at the Kommetjie slip-way where they were medically checked by Metro EMS paramedics.NSRI Hout Bay launched their rescue craft to assist to recover the capsized boat.NSRI Kommetjie then re-launched their rescue craft to take the men back out to their capsized boat where the NSRI Hout Bay rescue craft took the capsized boat under tow and the 4 survivors were transferred onto the Hout Bay rescue boat and taken to Hout Bay harbour.The men, skipper Hilton ( surname withheld), 39, from Tokai and crew, Randall Solomons, 39, from Ravensmead, Henry Paine, 49, from Lentegeur, and John Willoughby, 49, from Grassy Park, reported that while fishing 400 metres off Noordhoek their boat was swamped by a wave and capsized in the next swells.
