Gavin Fordham was called by Port Control 04h00 this morning informing usthat svShiloh needed assistance into the port due to her not having workingengines.R19A was dispatched to the scene where Coxwain Cornel du Toit proceeded totow the vessel into the port. Whilst tending to this call out we wereinformed of another yacht needing assistance.We moored Shiloh alongside the quay at Small Craft Harbour, tended to Eskimo then proceeded to tow svShiloh to the Zululand Yacht Club after she had cleared customs.Whilst on the callout towing sv'Shiloh' we were notified of another yachtneeding assistance. svEskimo informed Durban Radio that he was a singlehanded sailor who also had a bad eye infection (which was hampering hisvision) and would appreciate assistance into port. He did have sail and motorpower available.He called from ±5.5NM North of R/Bay. We informed him that we would just tiesv'Shiloh alongside then would proceed to her position. The vessel intendedto sail to a position just off the harbour mouth which would have taken herdirectly over a submerged pipeline (with extended breather pipes). Our basecontroller proceeded to plot and provide a safer route for the casualty tomake her way to. R19A then made her way to the second casualty.With the casualties permission we transferred two crewmen on board (JacquesKruger & Andrew Hodson) to assist the sailor. R19A then escorted the vesselinto the Small Craft Harbour.
