Sea Rescue – Kommetjie – 28 December, 2010: Body recovered:An extensive air, sea and shore search was launched at Noordhoek Beach for a 35 year old man, from Site 5, Kommetjie, went missing and is presumed to have drowned in the surf after being thrown from a horse in shallow surf.The man was riding a horse with fellow riders, from local stables, when it was reported that he was thrown from his horse, in shallow surf, and immediately disappeared beneath breakers.NSRI Kommetjie launched a rescue craft and a Discovery Rescue Runner, the Metro Red Cross AMS helicopter and the SA Police Service responded to the scene and the body was spotted during the search, from the Metro Red Cross AMS helicopter, lying in the breaker line. It was recovered by NSRI Kommetjie rescue swimmers and has been handed into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services.Police have opened an inquest docket.
