Sea Rescue – Cape Town – 26th December, 2010:At 16h40 NSRI Melkbosstrand volunteers, Metro EMS, the SA Police Service and the Discovery Surf Rescue helicopter were activated to assist Law Enforcement on the scene at Tableview beach where a 9 year boy was being treated for near drowning symptoms following a near drowning accident.It has not been established how the child was brought out of the water.The child was treated on-scene by paramedics and transported to hospital by a Metro EMS ambulance in a stable condition.While paramedics were treating the child Law Enforcement officers rescued an adult male in difficulty in the water at the same scene but the adult male was not injured and required no further assistance.The NSRI are urging the public to exercise caution at coastal and inland waters.
