UPDATE - EAST LONDON:Geoff McGregor, NSRI East London station commander, said:NSRI are delighted to inform that Frodo, the Boxer dog that went missing on Sunday, 11 October, at Orient Beach, East London, has been found safe a week after he went missing. It was suspected that Frodo may have drowned after going missing when their dogs were playing on rocks playfully chasing birds on the shoreline during a routine morning beach walk.NSRI East London had searched for the dog on Sunday and Frodo's family had searched for him every day this week before getting the good news on Saturday morning.Leon Kemp told NSRI that they got a call from the beach manager at Orient Beach on Saturday, 17 October, reporting a dog appearing to look just like Frodo that that was just seen running on the beach before disappearing into some bushes.Leon and his son went to the beach and they admit that they were overcome with emotion when Frodo was found safe on the beach.Following the happy reunion they returned home to reunite Frodo with his brother Boxer dog Sam and their Boer Bull Max.Frodo and Sam are from the same litter and they are like Siamese twins, said Leon.See original media statement below...EAST LONDON:NSRI are sad to inform that a boxer dog is missing and is suspected to have drowned at Orient Beach, East London.Geoff McGregor, NSRI East London station commander, said:On Sunday morning NSRI East London duty crew were activated following a request for assistance from a local family reporting that their Boxer dog had gone missing off rocks on the shoreline after their dogs were playing on the shoreline rocks.NSRI East London sea rescue craft and shoreline crew were diverted from routine training to respond to Orient Beach where a search was initiated for the dog which is suspected to have been swept off the rocks into the surf.Despite an extensive search sadly no sign of the missing dog has been found.-ENDS-
