Muizenberg – Sunday, 29 November. A Police Dive Unit are continuing in an ongoing search operation for a lifeguard who went missing on Saturday afternoon in the surfline at Muizenberg Main Beach.City of Cape Town (CoCT) lifeguards, CoCT Law Enforcement and Law Enforcement Marine Unit, CoCT Fire and Rescue Services, the SA Police Services and a Police Dive unit, WP Lifesaving, NSRI Strandfontein and flanking sea rescue stations, WC Government Health EMS, WSAR (Wilderness Search and Rescue), DRM (Disaster Risk Management) and the EMS/AMS Skymed rescue helicopter have assisted in the search.It is suspected that the CoCT seasonal lifeguard, a male aged in his early 20's, was knocked off a jet-ski sled in the surfline at approximately 15h00 off-shore of Main Beach, Muizenberg, before disappearing.Despite an extensive air, sea and shoreline search there remains no sign of the missing lifeguard and the Police Dive Unit are tasked to continue in an ongoing search operation.Thoughts are with the family, colleagues and friends of the missing lifeguard in this difficult time.Authorities discouraged bathing at Muizenberg on Sunday to allow space for rescue craft to operate in the surfline that were assisting the Police Dive Unit in an ongoing search.At the time of the incident NSRI Simon's Town and CoCT lifeguards were responding to assist 3 kite boarders in difficulty off-shore between Muizenberg and Kalk Bay. The kite-boarders were assisted to shore safely and they required no further assistance.
